If you dream of becoming a nurse, teacher, social worker, occupational therapist, or pursuing a degree in psychology, social sciences, childhood studies, or health studies, then this is the perfect course for you. This one-year, one day a week, standalone course opens up a wide range of diverse pathways, helping you take the first step towards your future career.

  • What you will study

    Topics include:

    • Equality, Diversity and rights
    • Human growth and development
    • Safeguarding
    • Communication
    • Dementia awareness
    • Mental Health and Well-being
  • Entry Requirements
    • Be over 19
    • Have either 4 GCSEs at grades 9-3 (A*-D) (English and maths desirable) OR a Level 1 qualification.
    • You will also need an advanced DBS clearance, and final selection is by interview and internal tests.
  • Assessment

    Assessment is by course work and assignments, which are both internally and externally assessed

  • Moving Forward

    Most students progress to the Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, having met the entry requirements of a merit grade, satisfactory completion of placement hours, and attendance at or above the college’s expectations. For those who do not continue to the second year, many move on to related employment or apprenticeships, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the field.

    This course is taught on the Greenwich Campus on Wednesdays at 9.30 am - 5pm
